THIS WEEK: KNOW YOURSELF

One of the most important, yet most challenging, things we can do in life is to get to know ourselves. Can you feel the excitement and the weight of that statement? Well a big part of being consistent is first knowing who we are and how we show up everyday in the world.

THIS WEEK: PUT IN THE WORK

We have all heard the saying, “No Pain, No Gain.” But if we were being honest, we would rather it went something like, “No Pain, No Pain” or “No Pain, All Gain.” We hate pain so we avoid it at all cost. However, we love gain and wish there was a quick fix for it… but there isn’t.

THIS WEEK: BE PATIENT

We live in a culture of “instant” everything. We put a bag of corn kernels in the microwave and in less than 2 minutes we have a giant bowl of hot buttered popcorn. We use our smartphones and devices to order something on the Internet and it’s at our door within 24 hours.

THIS MONTH: MONDAY GETS CONSISTENT

We all know that things change and that, for most part, we aren’t the biggest fans of it. But, just as things change, there is a ton that stays the same. Fortunately, for all of us, the sun rises and sets each and every day. Our bellies love that we have Taco Tuesdays every week and pumpkin spiced lattes every autumn.

THIS WEEK: BE A GOOD LOSER

Life is not a zero-sum game. Meaning for every winner, there doesn’t need to be a loser. This binary way of thinking is anchored in scarcity… that there isn’t enough to go around for everyone. Maybe this is what inspires the “we all need to […]

THIS WEEK: CELEBRATE CHANGE

Change is inevitable. That doesn’t mean we necessarily like it, however it does suggest that we should, because it isn’t going anywhere. But why don’t we like change? Is it because we are creatures of habit? Is it because it conjures feelings of loss? Or […]

THIS WEEK: WELCOME FEEDBACK

We love to judge. We love to react. Now that everyone has a platform, via social media, we have the capability to post comments and reactions with virtually zero accountability and a ton of vitriol. It’s as if our culture has become addicted to scouring […]

THIS WEEK: EMBRACE DIFFERENCES

We spend so much of our lives trying to fit in and yearning for a sense of belonging. It started when we were children. Maybe we wanted to be one of the “cool kids.” Maybe we were worried what people would think about the color […]

THIS MONTH: MONDAY GETS ACCEPTING

The idea of accepting something or someone is so simple, yet complex. There is something about it rooted in the understanding that we don’t all need to be the same, nor should we try or want to; but we can still accept each other. This is a beautiful start, but it still falls short, because it can’t be without a moral compass and a belief in objective truth. Just look at the political divide, the racial divide, the pandemic divide. One person believes the sky is blue, while the other person says it’s orange. Who’s right?

THIS WEEK: MAKE A NEW FRIEND

What does it mean to truly be a friend? Or, said differently, how would you define what a friend really is? We live in an interesting time where we are more connected than ever before through technology, yet we feel less connection and community in […]
