Professional Development That Matters

KEYNOTES, WORKSHOPS, & TRAININGS

Empowering students, educators, youth workers, leaders to build cultures of connection, purpose, and possibility.

THE MATTERING MINDSET

Mattering is at the heart of who we are and everything we do. Mattering gives us purpose, direction, and inspiration. Mattering is how we embrace our role in creating a world where everyone feels seen, heard, and loved. we achieve this through our Mattering Mindset™ framework - "I Matter," "You Matter," and "We Matter," and provides a paradigm for how we choose to live every single day. Atttendees will leave with a fresh lens of how to approach each day and foster a more supportive and compassionate world.

YOUTH MATTER

Youth and young people are intelligent and inventive, caring and kind, curious and creative, resilient and determined, and so much more. They deserve to shown and know how much and why they matter. EMM's K-12 SEL-intergrated curriculum provides engaging and meaningful lessons that empower students’ social and emotional learning and creates opportunities for them to value themselves, the people around them, and contribute to creating a supportive and compassionate world. Attendees will engage in EMM's promising practices that set the groundwork to help youth and young people connect to how much and why they matter.

CREATING A SPACE THAT MATTERS

Each and every individual who works with youth and young people has the opportunity to make a positive impact every day. Whether with a genuine smile, warm hello, enthusiastic fist bump, or a few minutes of conversation, these meaningful moments allow students to be seen, heard and valued, and just might be what gets them through their day. We never know what students may be carrying as we encounter them, but we can intentionally and thoughtfully create welcoming and supportive spaces. Attendees will be guided through co-creating a space for mattering and will explore promising resources, tools, and practices to create a space for their students to thrive, together.

COMMUNITIES MATTER

Our communities are defined and thrive through our collective commitment to take care of it. Our youth play an integral role in creating our communities. Service and service learning provides a pathway for students to value and take ownership of their neighborhoods, communities, and world. Inspired by the National Youth Leadership Council’s evidence-based service learning model - IPARD, attendees will explore and create a plan to integrate meaningful service experiences for students and help them connect to how they can contribute their skills, abilities, talents and compassion to show our communities how much they matter.

LIVING, TEACHING, & EMBRACING SEL
– AN INTEGRATED APPROACH

At any given moment, we can experience a range of emotions and feelings from despair to happiness, frustration to joy, and so much more. Better understanding social and emotional learning is how we bring awareness to not just what we experience in life but how we experience it.  For our students, social and emotional learning (SEL) is woven into everything they do and we can create the pathway for them to connect and contribute to constructing a space for them to learn, grow, and live. Attendees will explore the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) core competencies: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awarness, promising SEL practices, and gain a greater awareness of how to integrate these developmental and grade-level routines in classrooms, programs, and organizations.

SEL & WELL-BEING FOR ADULTS

In recent years, we have come to understand the importance of social and emotional learning (SEL) for youth and young people and how vital it is their mental, social, and physical development. We have also come to learn that SEL development is just as important for adults. Attendees will take a deep dive into the five core SEL competencies plus growth mindset, engage in SEL-focused exercises, and craft routines that thoughtfully foster their own well-being.
