We are often quicker to judge than we are to understand. We even do it with ourselves. Instead of showing empathy or compassion, we pick ourselves apart for every imperfection. Our hope is that you will start to take a different approach. Instead of choosing judgment choose curiosity, for curiosity is the first step toward understanding others. Without curiosity, it’s hard to empathize with someone else, whatever they’re going through. Once we’re curious about someone, the next step to understanding them better is to WALK IN THEIR SHOES. This week, try understanding what a day, a month, or even years of someone else’s life is like. We all know that just because we live our life one way, it doesn’t mean it’s the “right” or “only” way to live. Find out what it’s like to live life differently than you do. Try to understand why people make different choices, why they’re living in a way you don’t understand. Don’t be held back by the fear of what you might learn. Knowledge is power, and so are empathy and understanding. This week, reach out and connect, and see the world through a different pair of eyes. Once you do this, things might change—for you, for others, and for our whole world. Walking in their shoes matters.
