Expressing appreciation matters. There is no debating that. How we express appreciation matters as well, and we believe there are more and less effective ways of doing this. For the sake of argument, let’s all agree that not expressing appreciation or gratitude is not a good thing, in order for us to move into the different ways of actually doing it. Have you ever received a group thank you text? How special did it feel? Have you ever received a card in the mail and all the person did was sign their name because they relied purely on the message printed in the card? How special did that feel? This week, we want you to express appreciation in a manner that actually feels sincere and heartfelt. It’s time to WRITE IT OUT. Handwritten notes are special and one of a kind. Even if they are short notes, the thoughts are from you and the fact that you took the time to write it speaks volumes. No more typing with our thumbs or just sending emojis. No more relying on pre-printed words that thousands of other people received in the same card. Express yourself. Open your heart and take a moment to really let someone know how much you appreciate them. It’s that simple, yet so powerful it can literally make someone’s day. Better yet, they can reread it for as long as they want, so it’s a gift that keeps on giving. The fact is that your handwritten note might even be more life giving than the catalyst for writing it. That’s powerful. Writing it out matters.
